Hello all...
I would greatly appreciate any contributions of information on Ibu Akuaro...
i have been involved in the religion for already 7 years...and have just recently been intiated into ocha as of april 20th 2001, so as you can tell, i am extremely excited that my year as an iyawo is almost up.
I was crowned Ochun in Cuba, an experience ill never forget, and a decision i will never regret.
Without a doubt, my year as an iyawo has had its fair share of lessons well taught and very humbling to the soul...it hasnt been the easiest time in the world, since i am the only one in my family who practices in santeria...but i've tuff'd out the most of it and things are looked at completely different. This is one of the beauties in the devotion to Olodumare and the orishas...their lessons are taught in the most colorful of ways, making life all the more alive, precious, shedding light into who you are and what your relation with the creator is....
My Godparents are wonderful people and teach me a great deal because they see that i have love for the orishas along with a deep respect...and they encourage me to learn as much as i can.....
So, anything you may have to share about my mother, ibu akuaro, whether it be patakis, songs, tabu's, specific prayers, or any personal experiences you may have to share ....i thank you. Ashe
